Where will I be picked up and dropped off?

#1) HOTEL PICKUP - Most guests are picked up at their hotel (which they can choose from the dropdown list while checking out online during the booking process - see full list below). In addition to our default pickup location (see option #2 below), we offer pick-ups at approximately 40+ hotels within the downtown area and on the East side of the Willamette river near the Convention Center. Our central (default) location for pick-ups and drop-offs (for those not staying at one of our pickup hotels) is across the street from Portland Sports Bar and Grill in South Waterfront Park at the intersection of SW River Dr. and SW Montgomery St, with the exact pick-up location being on the north side of the traffic round-about along the pedestrian walkway adjacent to Riverplace Marina. https://goo.gl/maps/pZo25YftW2axLdtQ9

IMPORTANT NOTE - If you do NOT communicate or select your specific hotel (see list below) when you make your reservation we will assume we will be picking you up at our default pickup location. What is my pick-up time?

Please be in the lobby of your hotel (or the default pickup location) 30 minutes BEFORE the official start time of the tour. (Example: if the official tour start time is 9:00am, please be in lobby at 8:30am. Pickup will be sometime BETWEEN 8:30 & 9:00am). Please keep an eye out for our tour vehicle (usually a white 12-passenger high-roof Ford Transit tour van).

If you are being picked up at our default general default meeting location (South Waterfront Park), ADDRESS: 2001 S River Dr, Portland, OR 97201, https://goo.gl/maps/pZo25YftW2axLdtQ9 you will usually be picked up within a 30 minute window before the official start time of the tour, as per your confirmation e-mail and/or your confirmation cell phone text from your guide (sent out the night before the tour, or the morning of the tour if it’s a late booking). Please be in the lobby of your hotel (or the default pickup location) 30 minutes BEFORE the official start time of the tour. (Example: official tour start time is 9:00am, please be in lobby at 8:30am). If you are being picked up at your hotel, your exact pick-up time may change within the 24 hour period before the tour, so it is necessary to check, read & respond to ALL texts and e-mails for specific details right up to tour departure time. Please note, some hotel pick-up times may begin more than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour start time as this is due to constantly evolving pickup routes for our guides (even up to a few minutes before the tour begins as we often receive late bookings just before departure time and have to adapt on the fly). Thanks for your flexibility and understanding and for being in your hotel lobby or pickup location on time. ;-)

When would a tour be cancelled?

Tours will be cancelled when safety becomes an issue due to medical or Covid-related situations, inclement weather, including but not limited to: ice, snow, and high winds. Tours are very rarely cancelled, but at times in the late fall and winter the Columbia River Gorge can act as a natural wind tunnel causing unusually difficult driving conditions for our high-profile vans. In the case of a tour being cancelled (as deemed necessary by Infinite Oregon Tours), we are happy to provide a full refund for our guests.

What if I need to cancel my reservation?

If the customer cancels 24 hours or more before the official start time of the tour, a full refund will be issued, no questions asked. We are also happy to try and rebook you to a different date or time if you’d prefer that. If the customer cancels their reservation with less than 24 hours notice we will do our best to rebook you on another tour when your schedule allows, but if not possible the customer will forfeit the purchase price of the tour and any related booking fees incurred by booking platforms or 3rd party providers. This is due to the fact that that seat could have been sold to another potential traveler. Feel free to contact your guide more than 24 hours before the tour (or at time of booking) if you have any questions or concerns. Phone: 503-752-4744. Email: infiniteoregontours@gmail.com

How frequently will we have access to bathroom?

During most tours, we make frequent stops that allow for getting out of the van for bathroom breaks and an opportunity to stretch the legs. The longest stretch of time without a stop would be about 1.5 hours when driving out to the coast or returning from Mt. Hood. Your guide will be frequently mentioning any and all bathroom opportunities throughout the tour.

What happens if it rains?

Here in Oregon we embrace what we affectionately refer to as “liquid sunshine”. All of our tours run every day, rain or shine. Some of our favorite days are filled with swirling mysterious mist and cool refreshing showers which cover the moss and fern-laden trails with silvery dew. We live in a lush, green, temperate rainforest which maintains its beauty thanks to the abundant rainfall we are fortunate enough to receive. All of our vans are equipped with complementary umbrellas and rain ponchos. However, we strongly recommend that you come prepared with your own rain gear and warm layers as needed (hat & gloves are recommended in winter). While summer is frequently hot and sunny, the spring, fall and winter weather in the Northwest varies widely and is sometimes unpredictable. It’s always best to be prepared for any & all weather when you leave your hotel in the morning.

What is included in the cost of the tour?

All tours include light refreshments which are comprised of a disposable water bottle (which we recycle at end of tour) and light snacks (trail mix, granola bars, etc…), front door pick-up and drop-off at designated locations, experienced and knowledgeable professional guides, transport in a clean and comfortable tour vehicle throughout the tour, “fun facts” galore & our world famous friendly Pacific Northwest hospitality!

REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE NOTE - If you are already traveling with your own refillable water bottle (Nalgene, Hydroflask, etc…) please fill it up beforehand and bring it with you on the tour. We like to reduce our plastic consumption and effect on the planet whenever possible. Thanks! No worries if you don’t have one, we will have a recyclable water bottle for you.

What should I wear and/or bring on the tour?

Due to the unpredictable and ever-changing weather in this area, we strongly suggest that you check the upcoming forecast for the locations you will be visiting the morning of the tour. By doing so, you will be able to better prepare, bringing extra layers, rain gear and appropriate footwear as needed. For tours involving short walks/hikes, we recommend comfortable walking shoes and layered outerwear that can be easily applied or removed during the outing. It’s worthy of note that the Oregon Coast is often 15-30 degrees cooler than temperatures in Portland (even in the summer). Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge in fall, winter or early spring can also require warm winter jackets or rain jackets (gloves & warm hats are always a good idea too!). Bottom line is it’s always a good idea to bring a jacket in Oregon regardless of season.

BAGS - A small day pack (very small backpack), camera bag, purse or tote bag are fine in the van as long as they can fit by your feet, but we cannot accommodate large suitcases as there is no luggage space or trunk in the tour van. Please call us before the tour if you have any questions. 503-752-4744. Depending on the group size for PRIVATE TOURS we CAN accommodate large suitcases (which will be placed in some of the passenger seating areas).

How much walking is involved in the tour?

All tours involve time out of the van for short walks or hikes in order to maximize the experience and fully enjoy the sights. Most walks are less than a 1/2 mile round trip (or much shorter), but may vary depending on the dynamics of the tour group (or if it’s a private tour). Some trails may have a slight incline and/or decline, but are suitable for most clientele. We have taken guests from 4 years old to 104 years old on our public tours and they have all enjoyed it and been able to participate in most or all of the activities. It’s always an option to sit out an activity or attraction and wait in the van (large windows and very comfortable).

Is the cost of lunch included in the tour?

Although we do provide light refreshments (granola bars & trail mix), we do not include a full lunch on the tour. For full-day tours, guests will have time to dine on their own in locations that offer a variety of restaurant options that can accommodate many different diets and preferences. Your guide will be happy to provide tasty restaurant suggestions and input as requested.

Should I tip my tour guide?

Gratuity is not included in the price of your tour. However, if you had a wonderful experience with us it is customary within the tourism industry to tip within 15-20% of the tour price. Any and all tips are always greatly appreciated by our guiding staff as they are professionals who work hard to provide an exemplary experience for all guests. Thanks!

What is the capacity of the van (maximum and minimum guest allowed)?

For a tour open to the public, a maximum of 13 guests can book for any given tour (though groups are often smaller). We require a 2 guest minimum to book any tour, but after 2 or more people book a tour, it will then be open to single travelers as well. Private tours are available for parties of 1 to 28 guests (& larger with significant advance notice). Please call 503-752-4744 for inquiries.

What if I didn’t see my hotel on your list?

We have over 40 designated hotels within the downtown Portland area where we are able to pick up guests staying at those specific locations. If your hotel is not on the list, then guests will need to meet the tour van at the centrally located default meeting area which is: DEFAULT PICKUP - SOUTH WATERFRONT PARK - ADDRESS: 2001 S. River Dr, Portland, OR 97201. Our central (default) location for pick-ups and drop-offs (for those not staying at one of our pickup hotels) is across the street from Portland Sports Bar and Grill in South Waterfront Park at the intersection of SW River Dr. and SW Montgomery St, with the exact pick-up location being on the north side of the traffic round-about along the pedestrian walkway adjacent to Riverplace Marina. https://goo.gl/maps/pZo25YftW2axLdtQ9 Guests are also welcome to choose the hotel from the list that is closest to where they are staying and Uber or Lyft to their chosen pickup hotel. Please indicate which hotel you’ve chosen when booking your tour.

Are pets allowed on the tour?

Sorry, but pets are not allowed on public tours. In order to be considerate of all guests that may be participating (many of whom have allergies), we are not able to accommodate animals on our tours.

Are the tours wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate wheelchairs at this time as our van is not properly equipped with a lift system. Additionally, many of the locations that we visit involve dirt or gravel trails that are not easily accessed by wheelchairs. That being said we do have several walking sticks available we can offer to guests (please request one at least a day before the tour & we’ll accommodate you if we’re able).

Do I need to buy a seat/ticket for my child?

All persons that will be travelling in the van will be required to purchase a ticket, regardless of age. Our minimum age for our public tours is 4 years old. (There are no age restrictions on private tours). If travelling with small children it is important to be aware of Oregon’s regulations regarding child seats, and it is the responsibility of the parent to provide the appropriate legally mandated car/booster seat as well as installation of the seat in the vehicle. For more information, please visit the Oregon Department of Transportation website by following this link for ODOT Child Seats - https://www.oregon.gov/odot/safety/pages/belts-seats.aspx (Hint - you may have to cut and paste it into your browser).

Can I bring my stroller?

Storage space is limited in our vans (there is no trunk or luggage area), therefore it is important for you to plan accordingly and inform us well ahead of time if you are planning to bring a stroller or any other large items that will require additional space for storage. We will do our best to accommodate your needs if possible and appreciate advance notice on any specific accommodations you may require. The umbrella style smaller foldable strollers are more likely to fit in the van. Our minimum age for guests is 4 years old on public tours. There is no age restriction on private tours.

How do I arrange a private custom tour?

There are truly INFINITE POSSIBILITIES in this category of tours. If you have something in mind other than the tour options you see listed for our public offerings, please call or email us to discuss private tour options that are available. We will be happy to accommodate your ideas as able and would be willing to provide some alternative ideas of our own (wine country/tastings, multiple day tours, foodie food carts & breweries, deeper hiking tours, ski/snowboard excursion transport to Mt. Hood or other volcanoes in the area, potential international tours to Central & South America, etc…) if you are looking for something unique and/or specific to fulfill your wants and needs.
